Reasons for Creating this Model
  • To help the students:

    A consistent model throughout the grades allows students to build more complex ideas into a single framework as they gain experience, deepening their understanding of the research process.  Relating what they know about the research process to the Inquiry Model framework will help students to think about what they know and apply their skills in new and diverse situations.

  • To help the teachers:

    The model is a tool that teachers can use to systematically and incrementally organize and monitor the curriculum-based skills and concepts they are teaching.  Curriculum outcomes are linked directly to the model in the accompanying scope and sequence of underlying skills.
